I have just spent 2 days on the soccer fields with a 14 month old who loves the game of "Run from Mommy, run very, very quickly"! Couple this oh so fun game with 90 plus degree weather and you have one unhappy Momma!!! I hate to sweat, actually I don't handle it well at all, I may originate from what some would call the south but I am not one of those Southern Belles that sit on the front porch wearing 100lbs of dress and corsets, sipping tea while looking relaxed and beautiful. I get cranky, very cranky!!! Behind the soccer fields there are large grassy areas where one could run and play but for some reason, these lovely grassy areas held no appeal for my sweet little princess. Lilli insisted on leading me on a chase around chairs, blankets and people, all whom were trying to watch the soccer game, and then making a mad dash for the soccer field where 22 sweaty, 100 lb girls were vying for victory mercilessly. The odds for a Mommy and a 22 lb toddler are not good should you get mixed up in that fracas! Finally Kurt understood the look of a Mommy on the edge, snatched up Lillianne and took her to the van to watch yet another round of "Tarzan and Jane" in the a/c. (Note to self, put another movie or two in the van....this movie is cute the first 3 or 4 times but it is making me tired) Repeat this two more times over the course of the past two days and you can imagine how happy I am as I sit and write this post. The little monster, I mean Princess is safely and snuggly tucked in to bed now. When I gaze upon her sweet little angelic face, I can quickly forget that we have entered this oh so fun faze of independence and tantrums! Let's not forget to add two fussy brothers, never mind, I have neither the time or the energy to go there. Tomorrow Daddy is keeping Lillianne and the boys while Mommy and Morgan do the soccer thing. Morgan's team has won all three games without allowing a single goal to be scored, they have done really well. I'll have to tell you the Red Bull story tomorrow night!
Did I mention that Lillianne was so enamored by the plush surroundings at the Marriott that she decided to stay up and enjoy them until 2 AM!! You heard me, 2 AM!!!! What was my darling prince of a husband doing while I was up with her??? Until 1 he was glued to the remote and then he snored! Thank God for the person that created those thick, black out curtains they have in hotels, I think that I love them. We slept in until 8:15, not a full night of sleep but I could deal with it.
When you think of a city the size of St. Louis, wouldn't you think that their Wal-marts and Targets would be of the 24 hour variety? Morgan and I needed to make a trip out to get a few things while Kurt took the boys swimming at 9:30 last night. Target was closing and we went to Wal-mart, they are always open right? NOPE....they were closing at 11. We got our shopping done and it was off to find food to take back to the troops. Again, you think that this is the city, you can always find something to eat, usually something really good. I was envisioning a thick, greasy, cheesy burger....maybe with some bacon and cheese fries (I know, bad for me but I earned it chasing the Princess around at the soccer games).
An hour of driving and many miles later we are stuck pulling into a Taco Bell, ugh! For goodness sakes, I live in po-dunkville and can get a hamburger at McDonald's or take out from Skinny's along with advil from Walmart 24 hours a day but in the city, forget it! You'd better bring along the snacks and pain killer!
We visited Bass Pro Shop this afternoon and I now have a new love, a new heart's desire. I am in love with the Toyota Seqouya Limited 4X4. Sport utility meets ammenities of my van, very cool! Not cool, the $50K price tag, Kurt thought that was very uncool! Morgan already came up with personalized tags for it.....SCRMBL......translation= Soccer Mobile!!
I have a feeling she will be done playing college soccer when I finally get something like that, plus as nice as it is and as destructive as 4 kids can be, I told them I wasn't sure they would be allowed to breathe in it anyway! They laughed, why don't they ever take me seriously????
My pillow is SCREAMING my name and I am screaming back.....wish Kurt luck tomorrow with the kids, he's gonna need it! Nite all!
