I sit down to blog and just can't get the thoughts to form so I get up and plan to try again....I've done this now for a few days. Thanks to everyone that keeps checking back to see if I've finally posted, I love the statcounter.
The 4th of July weekend:
We spent the holiday weekend at the lake with my parents, brother and his son. The weather was beautiful and the lake was awesome, I can tolerate 95 degree weather when I'm on the water. Morgan took her friend Megan with her, Megan went several times with us last year and the girls always have so much fun. This year they got to ride the jet skis by themselves, they each took one and by the end of the trip were both spinning 360 turns and jumping big waves. The girls even jumped off the rocks at the rock quarry into 100' plus deep water. That took a few years off of my life but they thought it was just great! Layne even opted to jump off one of the lower rock cliffs... We celebrated Evan's 6th birthday for the second time in a matter of days while we were there. Before we left for the lake we had a party for him at Kurt's parent's and had dinner with his sister and her family. It was great to see them, always seems like the visit is so short but we are really going to try to get up to see them. With Morgan's soccer schedule, planning a trip in the fall or spring is nearly impossible.

Air Show:
Friday night we took the kids to the air show festival in our area. The show was great, the weather was tolerable and the kids were crabby. We had to rush to get there when Kurt got off work so I fed the kids later in the afternoon and promised them that we would eat dinner out somewhere. The first hour of the show they were doing great but Evan got bored very quickly so he started harassing Layne for lack of anything better to do. Anybody need a 6 year old? Just kidding, I adore him but he is so obstinate sometimes. Lillianne had her first experience with a glow stick necklace, she thought it was the coolest! It was 10:00 before we got to Steak and Shake for dinner, great thing to do: fill up on greasy burgers and cheese fries before bed! The kids fell asleep in the van on the way home only to wake up and I mean, really wake up when we got home. The boys played Layne's new game, "Mouse Trap" until 1:30.

The rest of the story:
Kurt and I have spent today trying to install our new glass storm door. I have wanted one forever and they were on sale today. Of course, nothing in this 50 plus year old home is level or the "normal" size. We've remodeled everything so should have remembered that but I guess we had chosen to block the unpleasant thoughts! The door way is an odd size so Kurt was making more alterations than progress but it looks like that by noon tomorrow we will have a pretty new door.
Tomorrow we may go to the "rocks". It is actually a spring fed river that runs over tons of rocks, creating waterfalls and wonderfully cool pools of clear water to play in. We like to take the dogs and make a day of playing in the water and picnicing.
I just checked e-mail and had one from one of my oldest friends. We haven't talked in such a long time and she is expecting baby #2! Congratulations Michelle! I love good news~
I'm off to lose myself in a little mindless TV watching, goodnight!
