We have toddler bed success!
I cried as we put the crib away for what will be the absolute last time. All four of my babies have rested their tiny heads in that crib and now it is going into the attic to await the far, far off arrival of my future grandbabies. Watching Kurt disassemble the crib was like slowly closing the door on an era of our lives. We are now parents of a teen, two in betweens and a toddler, never again to be the parents of a baby. If I close my eyes and concentrate hard enough, I can still capture the pure fragrance of baby and hear their soft little breath as they sleep. Those few months of infanthood pass by us so quickly and it isn't until we have passed the sleepless nights that we can appreciate them enough and then they are gone. Those moments have been replaced by moments just as precious, just as sweet. Hearing Lilli say Mommy and Daddy in that sweet little soprano voice touches a place so deep inside that I didn't know existed, a place that was reserved just for her. It's been that way with each child, each one touches a place in my heart that until I knew them, until I saw their face, until that moment......I didn't know was part of me. This parenting......it is a journey and a ride well worth taking!
All three nights since putting the toddler bed up have been successful. She is slumbering away in her little cottage bed as I type. We've been able to put her down, tuck her in and I sing to her and she goes to sleep. (Knock on wood)
We had the last of the rec soccer games this weekend. Evan won his last game and got a trophy (kindergarten gives out participation trophies to all who play). He was SOOO excited and the trophy is now residing on our microwave for the world to see. Soon it will take it's place amongst the other trophies in the boy's room but for now, it must be displayed! LOL Morgan's rec season is finished but soccer is far from over for us. She has 3 tournaments coming up, two with an All Star team and the final tourn. with her select team. It's getting too cold for outdoor sports, I'm ready for a break.
Today was COLD and dreary, the sun peaked out a few times but it was too cold to be outside doing anything. We took the kids and spent the day messing around running errands and going to Cape, then taking Morgan to practice, getting back in time tonight to make some Chili. Perfect dinner for this cold fall day!
I'm rambling now, I'm going to go watch TV with the hubby and settle in for the evening. Hope you all had a great weekend and have a great week ahead!

Christina,
Lilli will be 19 mos old at the end of the week. She was coming very close to going over the rail of the crib so we made the switch. Very sad but so sweet at the same time!
awww... you made me teary-eyed! but totally sweet! reminds me of our own crib, used by my 3 older siblings, then me... and the next one to use it was my parents' first grandchild!
hey dottie,

Christina you have mail! :)
Amber: Good luck switching Kaleb, it is sad but you'll soon have another little one for that bed! :)
Caroline: She continues to do well thankfully! It is sad but so sweet to tuck her into her bed and then hear her little feet pattering on the floor when she wakes up in the morning. I'm sure Lillyan will do fine for you, too!
Xtessa: That is so neat that you all used the same crib, too and that it was there for the first grandchild! I love tradition and family heirlooms!
Oh my gosh Lilly is in a toddler bed! She is getting so big. It breaks my heart. LOL
WooHoo Sarah! I didn't realize you had started a blog! The last time I clicked on your name it was just your profile, now I see a blog link! :)
wow Dottie, thanks for making me cry, LOL. That was beautiful!
Wooohoo! It's wonderful when they actually make it in the toddler bed. I remember breaking our crib down. Sigh.
I will not be having anymore either...so our baby days are over.

*sniff sniff* I don't even want to think about taking the crib down!! :( So sad....
Why do they have to grow up so quickly? I am glad though that things are going well with the bed. I have this fear that Em will never go to sleep and play all night....
Congrats to you for your baby being such a big girl now!!
I'm here...looking for something new, but hmmmm I wonder who is lacking in the posting department.
:)
I was thinking of you this morning.
xoxo
