Life is lovely here in my little corner of the world......let me tell you about my morning!
Woke up this morning after 30 minutes of true sleep.
Lillianne didn't think sleep was a requirement last night for herself or for Mom.
It was a balmy 15 degrees at 6:15 and nobody wanted to get out out bed. I knew things were not good when Evan came down the stairs growling. I heard him stirring quite a bit thru the night so I knew he didn't sleep well and he's been battling a stuffy nose. I innocently reminded him that he had PE today, he would need to wear his tennis shoes instead of the boots that he has worn EVERYDAY since he wore them w/ his Halloween costume. I think that he would sleep and bathe in those boots if he could, but I do draw the line somewhere. Apparently this was the wrong thing to say to Evan.....what followed had to be akin to wrangling an angry 45 lb snake and trying to shove it into a shoe box....a very small shoe box. He grabbed his tennis shoes, sat on them so I couldn't get to them. Once I extracted the shoes I had to hold down one leg at a time while attempting to keep the short man from assuming the fetal position. He's a strong little cuss......he curled his toes, kicked the shoe off that I had already got on and so on. I had to get Kurt to help and we still couldn't get him shoed....(sounds like I was trying to shoe a stubborn mule....lol...probably very similar) We finally got his shoes on and then had to move on to his hair. He was so far beyond pissed that there really was no hope. He wrapped his arms around his head and the Jaws of Life couldn't have extracted his head if they had been called in. Obviously he was not feeling well so I sent his tail back to bed, no one else needed to be subjected to the terror that was Evan this morning. He ended up sleeping 3 hours and is pretty stuffy so good call on my part.
I needed a nap and a case of Diet Coke after that ordeal....
The weekend was fairly uneventful. We took a drive along the river levies , saw a couple of deer and DH pointed out areas that were flooded in the flood of 93. We watched a couple of movies with the kids and Layne's choir had to sing at the City's Christmas party. All in all....uneventful and that is a good thing!
I did forget to do my list of things that I am thankful for in my last post....
Here's today's:
1. Christie's post......sometimes you just have to say it! :)
2. Heat....it's freaking cold outside
3. I have most of my Christmas shopping DONE!!!! YEAH
4. Comfort food....I made a huge pot of chicken & dumplin's and yeast rolls this weekend. YUM
5. Lilli hugs and kisses....even when she wouldn't sleep last night, she could make up for it by grabbing my face, saying "Awww....Mommy" and giving me a kiss and then wrapping her little arms around me for a big hug. That's worth staying awake for! :)

I could go for some of those little hugs. I miss having little ones. My baby is going to be 5. Totally uncool. Sniffles. Sorry about your bad morning. I wish when I got up grumpy, someone would tell me to go back to bed cause I needed more sleep. LOL. :)
what a pesky lil rattler today!!
good call on momma,s part.
it is colder here if you can belive that!!
I'm just sitting here wanting to pick up a phone and say....WE ALL SEEM TO HAVE THE BOYS IN A MOOD TODAY! LOL...I know exactly what you're saying about the shoes. We have that fight with Sam and his damn belt. UGH! I have no idea why he has it...why he wears it...and why i haven't thrown it away by now.
I hope tomorrow morning is easier and I'm glad my post wasn't horrible for you! LOL...I sooo needed to let it rip and I'm glad you get it. :)
XOXO
Christie
Love the snake in a box analogy - been there!
Lizzie: I know what you mean about them growing up...it is getting harder and harder to get spontaneous hugs from my 13 and 9 y/o. :(
Christina:I saw on the news that it is colder there for you. I'm so sorry! LOL
Christie: LOL about the belt! I can't get Evan to wear a belt even though he doesn't have much of a butt to hold his pants up! I SOOO got your post! I have stubborn children...but then they get it honestly! :)
Jana: Thanks for stopping by! I think Mommy's all have days like this. It must be a requirement!
Dottie, they never grow out of those strange attachments either. I can't even tell you how many times I've had to "lose" one of my hubby's hats that he insists on wearing until it is just disgusting and not fit for human consumption!
