Happy 2006! Where in the heck did that come from....I remember when the year 2000 seemed like an eternity away and now it is 2006!
Oh well....it's happened and we're all getting older but they say things get better with age and I am optimistic that 2006 is simply going to prove that one right!
We ended 2005 in a great way. Christmas was wonderful, the kids had a great time and all of my planning went off without a hitch. I'm knee deep in MP3 players (Morgan and Layne both got one), hot wheels, kitchen sets, Furbee's, portable DVD players and gosh knows what else..I simply lost track! LOL spoiled kids..... :) We hosted Christmas here at our home with our loved ones, ate well and too much and had lots of yummy fudge. (Thanks Mom!) Both meals got prepared without anything burning, me forgetting anything at the store or losing my mind, it was a success!
Handy Hubby even made us all cry by giving his Momma a special keepsake bracelet with her parent's photos on it that even I knew nothing about. Sneaky man but then he is the king of great gifts,(he keeps a running list of things that any of us might mention that we like or he see and thinks we might like) I'm sporting some new bling bling this New Year myself, thanks to the hubs!
On Christmas Eve we went to church at 11 pm for a candlelight service and communion. It was so pretty and moving.........I felt so in HIS presence while celebrating the greatest gift of all.
On New Year's Eve we hosted a party for Morgan and 50 (yes, you heard me....or read me right) teens. We heated the garage, decorated with light strands, stars, glitter balls and a balloon drop for the count down to midnight. The kids danced all night, played air hockey and hung out at the bonfire. Morgan was on top of the world and the entire evening went off without one incident. She's got such a great group of friends and they are all so much fun. It was mandated to me by the kids that we will host the New Year's Eve party each year from now on. Ummm......help! LOL
It's sad to see the holiday wind down. Yesterday, after waking from a long, long night, we did post party clean up....bet your glad you missed that one. :( Then we took showers, donned our pj's and all settled in for a long afternoon and evening of movies, grilled steak and ice cream. Handy hubby was still watching War of the Worlds at 11:30 when I turned in, I just couldn't get into watching Tom Cruise....he's been in idiot mode and has really turned me off.
Morgan had basketball practice at 9 this morning, we got the x-mas decorations down today without anyone grumbling and then we spent the remainder of the afternoon wandering the antique mall. I could spend hours in there,we actually did spend two... this time we ended up buying treasures for the kids. Evan found a miniature electric Amtrak train that he just had to have. We packed lunches for school and got everyone in bed....the holiday is officially over.
New Year's Resolutions:
Did you make any???? I'd love to say that I made one to exercise more but yeah...who knows if that will happen.
I guess the only real resolution, if it is even that, is that I promise myself to stay the course and stay true to myself and in turn to my heavenly Father, no matter what obstacles might arise before me. To continue to raise my children to be kind, loving people even in the face of adversity.
I'll post some pictures of the Holidays and party as soon as I get them all together. I do hope that Christmas was a joyous season for you and your families and that the New Year will be one of blessings, good health and love for you all.
Christie: A special note for you....I hope you are having the most awesome time on your cruise! Can't wait to hear all about it when you get back!
I think that it is so important to always be thankful, even for the smallest blessings in life. I'm going to try to continue with my "Thankful" list this year!
Today I'm thankful for:
1. My family.....hubby and the kids.....what a wonderful gift God has given me, I'm humbled when I think that He thought me worthy.
2. Laughter....we've shared so many laughs over the days off of school and work together. It's such a great thing to hear!
3. Warm fuzzy socks.....hubby was listening when he heard me say I longed for them. (He added them to the list!)
4. Friends...both near and far
5. The New Year ahead..........it's like a clean pallet waiting for me to paint the picture on...fun stuff ahead!
Again.....HAPPY NEW YEAR to you and your families! Nite all!
