Home sweet home......that's a hard one to get out when trying to come down off of five blissful, sunny days spent on the lake. Sure I appreciate having my home and all of the good stuff that goes along with it but trying to transition from wind blowing in your hair on a gorgeous lake to surrounded by fields of corn, mosquitos flying in your ear, MO humidity....there REALLY is no comparison.
We completely enjoyed our time at the lake. The kids played well together, little to no fighting and they made tons of new friends since there were so many kids over there with it being the holiday weekend. Morgan had a following of boys everywhere she went, that had Kurt on alert and me laughing at the things to come. Poor kid is going to have fun when she begins dating. Kurt's favorite line from Bill Engval (Blue Collar Comedy Tour)is the one where he tells his daughter's new boyfriend to take care of his little girl b/c he's not afraid to go back to prison. I think that it is Kurt's new motto on boys dating his daughters.
We had a nice time with Mom and Dad, spent a couple of days by ourselves with the kids and then had Kurt's family come over to join us on the fourth. One of his sister's was in from out of state with her kids and husband. His Dad, Mom and younger sister were able to come along, too. It was great to see them and share something we enjoy so much with them. It was a nice visit but far too short.
So I'm going back to college....I've talked about that here already. WHAT IN THE HELL WAS I THINKING!!!!????????? Seriously, I am excited because I am taking yet another semester step closer to my degree but oh my goodness. I love American History but reading a 1088 pg book as the text book with type smaller than this is killing me! Over the weekend I have to take two quizzes on this material, write a three page paper and read some more. I also have to take a test in my Bible New Testament class. The math class is thankfully a 16 week course that I will use the latter 8 weeks of that time frame to complete. Did I mention that in this weekend time frame, I have an Open House on one of my real estate listings and I have to take one of the boxochoclate puppies to it's new owner. Good thing I work well under pressure.
Evan turned 7 yesterday. Not sure where those years have gone, if I dwell on it too long, I get depressed. I don't understand why they get to be kids for such a short time, that we only get to hold them this close for a brief, very brief part of their lives. Happy Birthday Short Man, I love you so much it hurts!
I'm rambling, I really have a lot of work to do. Feel free to read A History of the American People and fill me in on all of the details. :)
Happy Weekend!
