Nostalgia
And it's been awhile again since I've posted....I won't apologize and say that it won't happen again because it probably will. I seem to be meeting myself coming and going these days and don't see that ending any time soon.

Hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving holiday. Ours was nice; the weather was fantastic, the food was divine and the company was great. Layne wasn't with us this year, he was invited a while back to come up to visit his cousin in MN for the holiday and we decided to let him go. We missed him but he had a fantastic time. We spent the holiday at my Grandma's house and I couldn't think of a better place to be. Just walking into her kitchen with the wonderful smells of Thanksgiving dinner wafting thru the air took me back to my childhood and memories of holidays past. Sometimes I wish that I could travel back into time and spend just one more day as the child sitting beside her while she sewed and I made my Barbies clothes from her scraps, to help her cook and to snuggle by the fire. Life passes by far too quickly and the holidays make me not only nostalgic but sad. Hands that once were strong and able are now weaker and wrinkled, hearts that were once full of joy are this holiday season filled with sorrow. I have watched my grandparent's age years in just the spanse of a few months. Actually I watched it happen in a matter of minutes when the news that they had lost their son was delivered. I literally felt the years leave as I held my grandma in my arms as she wept. I do long for those days long past...

Thanksgiving afternoon we headed out on an impromptu trip with my Mom to Branson. When I say impromptu, I mean it. We threw it all together late Tuesday and early Wednesday and were armed with tickets to Silver Dollar City and hard to find hotel rooms by mid day Wednesday. Morgan wasn't able to go with us so it was just Kurt, Mom, Lillianne, Evan and I. Mom needed to get away and I think that this trip proved to be just what she needed. We spent two days at Silver Dollar City with temps in the lower to mid 70's. Ate tons of great ( if not so good for you) food, rode rides, saw shows and generally just had a great time. We visited the outlet malls.....DANGER ZONE! LOL Thank goodness we had tickets to SDC and needed to get there b/c we could have done some serious damage to our bank balances. I did come away with a fantastic Stainless Steel 13 pc cookware set. I have had it up to here.... with T-Fal and Fabreware and took the financial plunge into stainless steel. I'm so loving it! Mom, Morgan and I along with Mom's best friend Anita (my second Mom) and her 17 year old daughter who is Morgan's friend are heading back just before x-mas for some last minute x-mas shopping and girl time. Should be fun!

Kurt had taken Monday off as the day to put up our Christmas lights. I was not so into putting them up this year but he was on it. LOL We have the house done for the most part but still have to put our outdoor tree of lights up that he made last year. I am slowly getting into the holiday spirit, although it is far more subdued than normal. I'm sure the children's mounting excitement will help motivate me to be filled with the holiday spirit.

Kurt took me to dinner tonight and asked me what I wanted for Christmas. I seriously could not come up with a single thing. I hate this question each year b/c I simply never know. He's gotten me great jewelry in the past and I don't need anything else, he's gotten me furniture for my birthday and I don't need any more of that right now... clothes are always good but he would so not want to pick anything out nor would I want him to....LOL A vacation sounds wonderful....I'd better think of something b/c Santa's running out of time.

I'll close by sharing a couple of pictures from a late fall picnic, Thanksgiving and Silver Dollar City. Here's the link:

Branson! You are just too funny. It sounds like you had a fantastic, yet maybe still a little discombobulated Thanksgiving.

Hunny, I think you need some seriously relaxing. I hope you focus on you a little during the season. I'm thinking of you...
