Congratulations to my Hubby!
8Congratulations to Handy Hubby! His department was called into the plant wide morning meeting this last week after being told that there was going to be management changes announced. Turned out it was a ruse to get them down there so that they could announce July's Employee of the Month. Hubby was nominated and chosen from over 1000 company employees for the recognition. He got a little bonus, money to treat his dept to a special meal of his choice, his name on a plaque at work, some awesome chocolate that I claimed an a few other little things. I am so proud of him and for him. Way to go Kurtis, I love you!

The weekend, once it started for me Saturday afternoon was nice. We went to the movies Saturday night and Sunday I did some laundry, made a big dinner and Kurt redid the playyard for the kids. It was time to get new wood chips and to do other repairs, etc. He worked a little bit on my new closet, too. I can't wait for it to be done, I won't know what to do with all of that space. Finished it will be a 10X10 walk in/sitting area with a walk out to a back patio.

Friday and Saturday The Lily Pad hosted a "Garage Sale Happy Hour", with the idea of capitalizing on the fact that there would be a lot of shoppers out yard saling and I wanted to draw them in for our sale. I ran a sale ad in the garage sale section announcing 15% off anything in the store during those special hours in addition to my ABC/summer sale. I kept the store nice and cool with the temps outside in the mid 90's. I did create a $1 rack and a couple of buckets of garage sale priced things that weren't up to par with what I carry in store to put out front. But the real shopping took place inside the store, who would have thought that a $13 garage sale ad would bring in so much business. I ended up doing a weeks worth of business in those special hours. Definately will be something that I do again. I had a customer from Cape call me and want to bring in some things. She had shopped with me when I first opened and loved the store. She brought me TONS of trendy designer ladies wear, shoes and handbags along with two huge stacks of teen/ young mens Abercrombie, Hollister, American Eagle, etc... How fun was it to find a Kate Spade bag in the mix of all of it. I'm so thankful b/c there are several great stores down there that she could have taken her stuff to and she chose my store. Saturday ended up being a fabulous but tiring day. I did find two people that I am considering as employees, still contemplating what I want to do....

I think that we have hit the potty training jack pot with Miss Lilli. (knock on wood) She just seems to have decided that now it is time and is doing it all on her own. Her Daddy and the boys went to Walmart last night and when Daddy got home he surprised her with a Dora pillow case. He knows that she loves Dora and confessed that he almost bought the whole bed set for her. Thank goodness he didn't since I just redid her room. LOL Both of our girls have that man wrapped up.

Enough of a break, the vacuum calls. Blech...
