"Mommy, it's a GOOD day today!"
The above was Lillianne's proclamation at 7:30 this morning. I had to smile, snuggle her and say that yes, yes it is a GOOD day today! What a lesson there is to be learned from a toddler....wake up with a smile on your face, hug the ones you love and proclaim that it IS a GOOD day today! God, how I love that kid!
Yesterday morning I woke up early and watched a bit of tv after starting a load of laundry. Hubby headed off to work, the kids were still sleeping and the remote was free for the taking, no small squirmishes involved in gaining control. I was flipping thru the channels and landed on a Christian satellite channel with the Evangelist Joyce Meyers. I had heard a lot about her and know that she does conferences all over but I had never seen her program on television. I sat down to listen and in those few stolen moments that I had before the rest of the house awoke, I learned another lesson from her preaching the Gospel. She was talking about God's plan for us and how we choose to pursue it. Even Jesus had a moment of impatience when he was around 12, wanting to get on with doing his Father's work but his parents took him back home for the next 18 years and it wasn't until he was 30 that his work truly began. In three years, look what he accomplished...he saved us all.
Her lesson was that God does have a plan for us, each day is a part of the journey and we are usually all so busy trying to get to the "GOOD" stuff that we don't enjoy the real journey. Each day is a gift, has a purpose and is real so take the time to live in it, enjoy it and savor it. Quit wanting more of what we don't have and enjoy what we do have because more doesn't necessarily equal better or fit into what God's plan is for us. That is a hard one but it makes so much sense and actually makes me ashamed. It is so easy to get caught up in the "I wants" that we don't appreciate the things that He has given us and has brought into our lives. It is almost an insult to Him when we don't appreciate and savor the things that he has given us. He has given me enough....and that is all that we truly need. Joyce talked about the roadblocks that we put in God's way when he is leading us down the path that he has chosen. Roadblocks such as negativity, being down on oneself, letting the hatefulness and unhappiness of others prevent us from moving forward, self doubt, etc. These stand in the way of our happiness and the fulfillment of His plan. How easy it is to get caught up in all of that and not realize that we are denying ourselves the happiness and life that God planned for us.
Deep thoughts and not a lot of entertainment value here but this has been on my heart since yesterday morning and then Lilli's comments and positiveness that TODAY IS A GOOD DAY reminded me that God teaches us to be like the little children, come to him with the open heart and mind that children have and our blessings will flow forward. Be like Lilli and know just because she believes , that Today IS a GOOD DAY!
May you be blessed with a good day today, don't forget to enjoy it.
