I'm not quite as emotional as I was last night so this post will be a little more light hearted.
Mom, my sister and her stepmother in law took me out to the movies this afternoon/evening in celebration of my birthday. There is a BBQ celebration scheduled for tomorrow night but tonight was a girls night out. It was nice, I don't remember the last time I was at the movies with both my Mom and sister. We went to see "Knocked Up" with Kathryn Heigel, it was a funny movie but way overloaded with unnecessary foul language and a lot of in your face sex. Not cool when you are sitting with your sister's MIL and your Mom. It did get really funny in the last part of the movie, we were all laughing so hard we had tears rolling down our faces and were all trying desperately not to pee our pants. LOL I'm kind of thinking that we should have gone to see Hairspray, John Travolta in drag as a fat woman has to be better than seeing a hairy, bad teeth, fat man having sex. YIKES!
We finished the evening off with dinner out and lots of laughs. It was great to be together without the kids and to laugh, talk and catch up. We did have to stop by the hospital, a long time friend of our family was found unresponsive in her home the other day by her daughter. She has been declared brain dead and the family has had to make the choice to turn off life support, that will be done in the morning after more family can get to the hospital. It is just so very sad and couldn't have come on a more awful evening /day for my mother.
I'm praying that Mom sleeps tonight, that she can find peace and rest. It was just after midnight a year ago that she called me to tell me that Daddy had had a massive heart attack and that they were taking him to the hospital. She didn't tell me that he was already gone but that they were trying to revive him.
Tomorrow we will be having a BBQ for my actual b-day, my sister has put all of those plans into place so it should be fun. They will have to leave on Wednesday morning so it will be a last chance to visit and let the kids play. Lillianne so loves having her cousins here and is looking forward to a visit by her other cousins in just a couple of weeks. I know that she will miss Caleb and Faith.
I've got a crazy week ahead of me with work. I have had so much incoming for fall, have a summer clearance sale going on and trying to work on some changes in the store. I foresee a few late nighters to get ready for the back to school rush. I'll be adding some new product lines over the next couple of weeks, too so will be trying to coordinate with sales reps. I've narrowed down the list of people that I want to seriously talk to about a job so will need to focus on that, too. I'm not complaining, I love what I do and feel blessed and while I'm tired, the rewards are worth it.
Speaking of tired, I'm ready to go to sleep. I've started re reading "The Power of the Praying Woman" and plan to read a bit each night so goodnight for now!
