The Walmart Birth
I'm in the bathroom putting my make up on, getting ready to start the day. Lillianne is "getting ready" right along with me as she does every morning. She is carefully investigating each shade of eyeshadow, popping the lids off of the "chap lips" a.k.a. lipsticks and questioning me with out mercy as to each and every products use and of course, once the purpose has been explained she gives her inevitable follow up of "Why?" After about the third "why", my responses become rather automated and I begin to mentally map out my day.

Somewhere around the 15th "why", Lillianne's questioning changes direction.

She immediately grabs my attention with:
"Mommy, where did you get me?"

...................... Well, ummmm.....I'm remembering that three year olds really just want simple answers and don't need details.

Before I can formulate my answer, Lilli pipes in with "Mommy, you got me at Walmart. You got me in the check out". Um....

" No Lillianne, we didn't get you at Walmart, Jesus sent you to live with Mommy and Daddy, he gave us such a special gift."

Lillianne takes this into consideration for oh, about 3 seconds and proclaims, "NO, you got me at the check out, at Walmart".

That's right sweet girl, there you were mixed in with the Snickers & Hershey Bars, beef jerkey, Soap Opera digest and the little chapsticks. I just couldn't resist you.....talk about your impulse purchases. Can't you just imagine your Daddy's surprise when I had him help unload the groceries that day. :)
