The Journey
Happy Mother's Day, belated... It has been forever since I have blogged but reading a few of the blogs I used to read has inspire me to TRY to get back to it. I love being able to go back and read the "diary" of my family's last few years and hate that I have gotten so busy that I have neglected to keep blogging. That really is the whole and only reason I blog, to keep a journal of these precious years. Since I was a small girl, I always have attempted to keep a written diary. Key word being "attempted" because no matter how cute, how cool or how inspiring a particular journal was, they all ended up with only the first few pages full and then emptiness. And then there was blogging, thru typing, I have a better chance of keeping up with my racing brain. :)

I will shoot for a brief synopsis of the last few months. They have been interesting....

Morgan got injured playing soccer at school, before the real high school soccer season began. That brought muliple trips to the Dr and many prayers that she would be healed before the soccer season began. She had to miss the first bit of practice but was healing nicely. She got back on the field where she loves to be only to have a reaction to the antibiotics that she was on to prevent infection in the original injury. :( That sidelined her for a couple of weeks but once she got back she was able to get that varsity jersey and hit the field for a couple of great games. The coach has been extremely cautious with her to make sure that she would be ready to go next year when they lose much of their varsity team to graduation. Morgan was doing great until a game against a "Christian" school about an hour away when she was shoved down from behind on a break away she had, once the girl got her down she kicked her in her previously injured leg sending us back to the Dr and keeping her off of the field yet again. She has been cleared to play but the coach is keeping it very low key and they are going into districts this way so Morgan is just staying out of the game for the rest of the season so that she is in top form for next season. It has been disappointing for her but one bright spot, she had a coach from a university ask about her and he is going to be keeping an eye on her. She was pretty excited about that, she has worked hard and deserves it! She has had a great school year overall, even got asked to the prom by three guys other than her Sophomore boyfriend. Of course she said no but I think it was still fun to be asked by a couple of the "Hot" older guys. LOL

Layne bridged up to an official Boy Scout and he has been so busy. They have gone on quite a few campouts with a huge one coming up soon. He is excited b/c his Daddy is going to be going along for that one. He is looking forward to the summer months, scout camp and going to the lake since he gets to bring a friend along this year when we go.

Ev has wrapped up his school year. I had the end of the year review with his teacher this morning and she had nothing but praise for Evan. He is so excited that he will be taking Spanish next year and that Layne will be taking Spanish I, too thru the same program. He is looking forward to starting cub scouts next year when school begins again. He figured out that once he gets to the fifth grade, he and Layne will be able to be in the same troop and that he will be able to go on all of the campouts, too.

Lillianne is finishing her first year of preschool. She is changing every day, she cracks me up with the things that she comes up with. She is SUCH a Princess and loves to copy everything that Morgan and I do. She will watch either of us get ready to go and mimick us putting on make up, doing our hair, carrying a purse, etc. What a gift she is to all of us, she has everyone of us wrapped around her little finger and Daddy has it the worst. LOL

Hubby is doing great, his work schedule is insane as he has been working on several different projects. The extra $$ is always nice but there is no way that I could stand him working all of the time forever. We simply have enough to make our lives comfortable and happy, there is something to be said for family time and I'm just not willing to give it up for good.

The store is now a year old and continues to grow. Of course I still get people that stop in and say that they had no idea that I was here but then I get consignors from St. Louis, Cape and Carlisle, IL so word of mouth must be working. I even had a lady come from the bootheel to buy a prom dress for her daughter. I hope that by the fall I have found someone to adequately part-time manage the store so that I can focus on a few other projects I have going on including the online store. Going into business for myself is one of the most frightening things I have ever done but looking back over the last year I can honestly say that it has been one of the best things I have ever done, too. I'm looking forward to the next year as we continue to grow and I remember to breathe....:)

Speaking of looking back over the last year and years.....Hubby gave me a diamond "Journey" necklace yesterday for Mother's Day. What a beautiful gift as it is meant to represent the journey that you have shared from the beginning of your lives together until the present. What a God "blessed" journey that it has been, too. Not necessarily always perfect but always full of love and God's blessing. I am so very thankful for our life together, the beautiful family that we have and the many blessings that HE has afforded us.
